Laddie is the coming of age story of a young girl who spends the summer at her grandfather's cottage along the shorelines of the Great Lakes. During a solo jaunt into an unspoiled area of beach, she gets lost in a sudden fog. There, she is "rescued" by a friendly little dog.

Rescued by the lighthouse keeper's daughter, Laddie proves an asset to the life saving crew and a loyal friend to the little girl who loved him.
